ECC is a business alliance, and fellow business owners vote on representatives. The primary role of the City Centre is to retain, recruit and promote downtown businesses through events, promotions, and physical appearance.
Less than a year later, COVID hit, and one of her two Aldermen resigned. The Elmhurst Mayor then has the authority to appoint a new Alderman to the position. Out of four applicants, Jennifer was appointed by the Mayor and unanimously approved by the Elmhurst City Council.
During this time Jennifer co-founded the Elmhurst Business Owners Covid19 Support Group, which served as a medium between the City of Elmhurst and business owners, to successfully provided timely information on federal and state COVID-19 relief initiatives.
Six months later, in 2021, Jennifer ran for election to finish the two-year unexpired term. In a three-person race, Jennifer won 50% of the vote.
Jennifer announced her Elmhurst Alderman re-election campaign in December 2022. She faced two challengers and won the four-year term by a landslide, with 63% of the vote on April 4, 2023.
Jennifer successfully won vote by mail, early voting, and election day in-person voting.
